Change Your Level Lacrosse instructor Amy Bokker header image

Coach Bokker came to George Mason in 1997 and is the winningest coach in the program’s history. This tremendous accomplishment can be attributed to her extensive knowledge of the women’s game and her ability to relate to today’s student-athlete. A native of Phoenixville, Pa., she earned All-American honors in lacrosse as a player at William & Mary.

Bokker has coached 26 All-Conference players, including the 2000 Defensive Player of the Year and the 2005 Player of the Year, six All-Americans, and two National Team players in her nine years at Mason. Bokker was named CAA Coach of the Year in 1997.

The coaching staff will be led by current George Mason lacrosse assistant coach Liz Schaffner. Schaffner is a graduate of Loyola College. She played four seasons of lacrosse for Loyola, during which her team lost just 13 matches. Loyola snapped Maryland’s 50 game-match streak in her junior year and the Greyhounds later advanced to the NCAA Championship match. While Schaffner has been responsible for the George Mason defense, the Patriots have developed a reputation for being one of the nation’s tougher defensive squads. Schaffner will be aided in coaching at the Change Your Level Lacrosse camps by current and former members of the Mason lacrosse team.

The goalie academy will be headed up by Meg Dentler, the 2005 CAA Player of the Year and two time All-American at George Mason. Meg’s ability to work with both aspiring and established goaltenders makes her a true asset to the Change Your Level coaching staff. Campers truly enjoy Meg’s approach to learning the fundamentals of the game, and come away with confidence and sharpened goal keeping skills.

McKenzie is a graduate of James Madison University where she was a four-year starter from 2002- 2006, and was a captain in her final season. Her many accolades as a stand-out player at JMU include three Colonial Athletic Association Championships and two appearances in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament (2004 and 2006). She was named Second-Team All-Conference her final year, in addition to garnering CAA All-Tournament honors in her final season. McKenzie’s international playing experience also includes a key role as a member of the Canadian World Cup Team.
